Hot Nola Book Bully

Nola1.jpgSo, some of you know I’m currently in New Orleans with a group doing some post Katrina rebuilding/community building work in partnership with Habitat For Humanity. But in the midst of all of this, (especially on the 18 hour bus ride down), I’ve been taking some time to digest a few new books. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to play “book bully.”

One book I’ve been reading is called Small Giants. It’s about companies who choose to stay small instead of succumbing to the pressure to grow for the sake of growth. I’ve found the stories in this book fascinating and consider it a great read for anyone running a small-to-midsized business or looking to start one.

Another one I’ve been working through is called The Time Paradox. The book examines how our perspective of time affects our ability to engage here and now. I know it sounds a little psycho-babblish, but the authors root their findings in decades of research and I’ve already discovered that I have an extreme “future” focus and I need to be aware of how that keeps me moving forward at the expense of what’s…right…now. Good read.

So, I know we have a forum topic for this, but I’d love to hear what you’re reading. I might need something new for the 18 hour bus ride back. Feel free to leave your current reads in the comments.

Oh…by the way…have I mentioned that New Orleans is hot? It is.
