Just a few random tidbits that seem like they could find a home here:

A little lesson in history please?
I attended a lecture last night by David McCullough, historian and author (John Adams, The Jonestown Flood, Truman, etc.) A few of my favorite quotes/thoughts from the evening:
"There is no such thing as a self-made man or woman."
"We are what we read." (Yes! Yes! Yes!)
"There was no simpler time!" (on the tendency for people to qualify the past as "simpler times.")
"There's no such thing as the past. People did not live in the past, they lived in the present."
"Act well your part, for therein all the honor lies." - Alexander Pope
"Great leaders animate action."

Give us your thoughts, questions and comments.
You can now call-in and offer up your thoughts about, comments on and questions for AC podcasts. The AC Comment and Question line is (+1) 513-549-1122. Try it. You might like it.

A quick review, if you please?
If you've found any of our content and podcasts helpful, would you be willing to take two minutes to rate or review the AC Podcast on iTunes? It would be much appreciated. While you're at it, we would also love a recommendation to your friends and co-workers. We'll return the favor. Somehow.

There IS such a thing as a free lunch
We've just opened up a free trial to AC Premium. Give it a spin for 30 days. If you don't like it, just cancel and there's no charge. (And no hard feelings.)

End of randomness. I know I say this often, but we are so grateful that you take the time to read and interact with our content on the AC site. It means a ton. Thanks for helping us free creative people to be their brilliant selves.

  • Greetings…

    Welcome Beatrice!

  • Scoring In The Red Zone

As a professional voice-over artist, I'm always on call any time b/w 10AM to 9PM at night. In order for me to transition from work to family (since I don't really punch out), I've made mornings my meditative period. I go for a long walk, grab some coffee, and see people before going back to my home ...

@Jessie, My buffer is usually a quick stop off at a local bookstore. If it's been an especially tough day, I'll try to leave 10-15 minutes early and stop off on the way home, browse for a few minutes, see what's new, etc., then make my way home. If I don't have time to do that, then I'll turn off ev...

  • Scoring In The Red Zone

Thanks for another great post, Todd. What do you use as a buffer before heading home? I only have a 5-10 minute drive & most of the time that is not enough time for me to go from work to home & then my family has to deal with me not being with them mentally. One thing I need in my life is exercise...

  • Scoring In The Red Zone

@Eric, e-mail is my biggest productivity killer. I have had to develop a system to deal with it, only focus on it during certain windows each day, etc. @tbroad, thanks @Mike, yep. Study is my absolute top-line thing. I can almost draw a direct correlation between really effective work and the amou...
