I came across an excellent post by Ryan (of 37 Signals) about how his recent condo purchase has turned his world upside down. It’s odd how we can fall into certain very effective methods of creating when we’re familiar enough with the process that the only uncertainty is in the doing, not in the results. But when the costs of failure are high enough, we begin to balk at uncertainty and unfamiliarity with process until we are paralyzed. This stress can kill our enjoyment of the act of making and exploring possibilities.
For those with a conceptual bent (as opposed to the experimentalists like me) uncertainty can cause all sorts of uber-fun dissonance.
