Some people confuse “creative” with “novel”, meaning unique or truly divergent. But in order for something to be a truly creative idea, it must be both novel AND appropriate.

    Having stumbled upon your site, I’ve become an occasional visitor, one who appreciates your work and insight. And, like all writers should, I look forward to purchasing and reading your new book.

    It was Swift who said, “”When a true genius appears in this world, you may know him by this sign, that the dunces are all in confederacy against him.”

    So although I agree that your comment is applicable to most business models, I’m sure you would concede that some of the truly great ideas (think Galileo) have been so ill-received in their time that the creative minds behind them had to fear for their lives.

    We can all cite examples (even if more the exception than the rule) where a creative idea in business went unrecognized and was mistakenly rejected as “inappropriate.”

    I guess this is a long way of saying that “appropriate” is a bit of a loaded word….

    But I’m sure you know that….
